The 2015 GrandFamily Conference will be FREE live-streaming to 25 sites across the state. Instead of traveling to OKC, you can view the conference sessions from the comfort of a public library near you (check out the list of participating locations).
The conference is held for grandparents raising grandchildren and for other relatives raising children. Meet fellow grandparents, learn about services and gain knowledge that will inspire solutions to the challenges you may face. The conference sessions will cover:
- Legal Aspects of being a GRANDfamily
- Service Benefits through Adult and Family Services
- Services Benefits through Child Welfare Services
- Building Systems of Care – how to take care of yourselves by building a support system
Lance Robertson, DHS Aging Services director said, “Our major goal is to provide information. Another goal is that attendees will have an opportunity to connect with DHS staff members, if they choose to. We are extremely excited about this collaborative and innovative initiative. The leadership from the other areas within DHS has been supportive to offer their staff to provide assistance at each library site. The use of technology, provided by the ODL, another state agency, will also provide significant cost savings. We hope that partnership is there for years to come,” he added. [see full article here]
