Applications Open for OLA Conference Grants
ODL is offering grants to help public library staff attend the 2017 Oklahoma Library Association Conference April 24–26.
- be active, certified staff
- be currently employed in a public library in Oklahoma
- have earned less than $35,000 in 2016 (gross income)
- work at a public library or library system that is eligible for State Aid in FY17.

Due to funding, this will be the only ODL Continuing Education Conference Grant offered this year.

Library Development- Free Classes for Spring in the ODL Computer Lab

You might note that, for the first time, we will be teaching Evernote classes. The full-blown version could be installed on your home or work computer (free) and then you could download the lighter version to your smartphone tablet. Everything would sync. Evernote is highly rated and will be extremely helpful in management of all the minutia in your life.
The Continuing Education Grant provides funding for active certified librarians to attend their choice of a library conference offered in 2016. The choices are:
- Oklahoma Library Association (OLA) conference in Tulsa, OK, March 30 – April 1, 2016
- Texas Library Association (TLA) conference in Houston, TX, April 19 – 22, 2016
Applications are due February 26, 2016.

This full day workshop is designed to help you get better acquainted with the new e-rate portal, OUSF and new Category 2 funding. You will also have a chance to file your 470 in the afternoon.
It is highly recommended that you be registered for EPC before attending the workshop.
Please bring a laptop or tablet if you plan to fill out your 470 at this workshop. Let your consultant know if you do not have a laptop available.

Lunch noon to 1:30 – off site, on your own
The 2015 First Amendment Congress for high school students and educators will be held November 4 in Constitution Hall at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Deadline to register is October 30.
This year’s Congress looks at some of the First Amendment challenges and controversies young citizens experienced on high school campuses.
- CEU credit is planned for Public Librarian Certification, as is “Verification of Attendance” for educators.
